Meet the Tacoma Team Behind DryMark Restoration Tacoma

We’re the crew that shows up when water’s still moving through your walls or smoke’s settled in your attic. Every person on this page has been background-checked, licensed, and insured before they ever knocked on a Tacoma door. What ties us together isn’t a handbook. It’s that we all work under the same rule: Haven Standard, Clause 1 - a written price before any work starts, every time, with no exceptions. Alicia Brennan built this team around one idea from her years as a claims adjuster: the documentation gap costs homeowners their claims. We close it.

Our People

Alicia Brennan - Owner

I started Back to Dry in 2011 after spending years on the other side of restoration claims as an adjuster. I kept seeing the same thing: homeowners with legitimate damage getting denied because the crew forgot to photograph the pre-loss condition, or the drying log stopped on day three, or the invoice listed “miscellaneous” for $4,000. I built this company to make that impossible. Every job we touch gets a written scope before we start, a photo record on every visit, and a drying log that meets IICRC, RIA, and IFA standards - the kind of documentation that turns restoration invoices into payable claims. I still review the paperwork on disputed jobs personally. The dry aside I’ll give you is this: I’ve seen a $12,000 water damage claim get reduced to $2,800 because the previous contractor logged relative humidity once and called it done. We don’t do that. Haven Standard, Clause 1 applies to me too - I sign the warranty on every job.

Marcus T. - Lead Water Technician

Marcus has been running mitigation crews in Pierce County for nine years, and he’s certified in Applied Structural Drying and Water Damage Restoration through the IICRC. He specializes in psychrometric data - the measurement of temperature, humidity, and air movement that tells you whether your walls are actually dry or just feel dry. Marcus carries a thermal imaging camera on every call, and he’ll show you the moisture map before he sets a single air mover. The human detail: he keeps a running bet with the crew about which Tacoma neighborhood has the oldest galvanized plumbing. North End’s currently winning. He documents every reading to the drying log because, as he puts it, “your adjuster wasn’t there at 2 a.m. - the log was.”

Senior Installer - Elena V.

Elena handles reconstruction and contents restoration after the mitigation crew finishes, and she’s particularly sharp on fire and smoke damage where odor particles have bonded to structural materials. She’s RIA-certified in fire and smoke restoration and trained on Injectidry and Phoenix systems for controlled drying behind cabinets and inside wall cavities - what we call tertiary drying, when surface readings look fine but trapped moisture is still creating vapor pressure differentials inside your framing. Elena grew up in Lakewood and knows which Tacoma-era homes have the plaster-and-lath walls that behave differently than drywall when they get wet. She’ll tell you straight if your oak floor can be saved or if it’s headed for the dumpster, and she puts that call in writing before she touches a pry bar.

Service Coordinator - James K.

James answers the phones and dispatches crews, and he’s the reason a live person picks up when you call (253) 265-9692 at 3 a.m. on a Sunday. He’s been with us four years, and he knows which technician lives closest to Proctor versus South Tacoma versus the Port, which matters when water’s still migrating through your subfloor. James coordinates directly with insurance adjusters, uploads photo documentation to claims portals, and tracks the daily moisture logs so nothing gets lost in translation. He used to manage logistics for a moving company, which explains why he can tell you exactly how many dehumidifiers fit in a truck and why he alphabetizes the equipment checkout sheets. Homeowners don’t see him, but he’s the reason the crew shows up with the right gear and your adjuster already has the first batch of photos.

Apprentice - Devon R.

Devon’s in his second year with us, rotating through water, mold, and fire crews to earn his IICRC certifications. Right now he’s shadowing Marcus on water losses and Elena on reconstruction, learning to read a moisture meter, set up a containment barrier for mold remediation, and document everything to the photo record standard. He grew up in Parkland and worked construction through high school, so he’s not afraid of crawl spaces or attics in older Tacoma homes. The detail that matters: Devon asks the questions other people stop asking. “Why did we place the air mover there?” “What does that vapor pressure reading actually mean?” That curiosity is why we hired him. In another year he’ll be running his own mitigation calls, and he’ll already know that the documentation matters as much as the drying.

One Standard, Every Job

One Standard, Every Job

We’re independently owned and operated under The Haven Standard, and that standard travels with us whether we’re drying out a basement in Tacoma or rebuilding after a fire in another market. Alicia Brennan set the clauses in 2011, and they haven’t changed: written price before work begins, photo record on every visit, daily moisture logs that meet IICRC, RIA, and IFA documentation standards, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise - if it’s not done right, we make it right, signed and stamped on every job. We deploy professional-grade drying systems from Dri-Eaz, Phoenix, XPOWER, B-Air, and Injectidry, and every technician on this page is named, licensed, insured, and verified before they arrive. No voicemail trees on emergency lines. No scope-creep additions once we’re inside your house. And if you’ve got a competitor’s written estimate, we’ll review it for free - Haven Standard covers that too.
